Breed description

The French Bull is pre-eminently a family dog!
It has a lively and stable, uncomplicated character, is always in for a game and loves to be fondled.
It doesn't make a distinction between the family members, attention is attention!
This race is known to be good company for any kids. They go along very well.
The French Bull loves attention and is very sensitive, loud words affect him deeply and a French Bull that is left to its fate will definetly trifle away.
They are no kennel dogs they belong in a house amongst the family!
Because they are pretty obedient and compact you can take them everywhere.

General appearance

Small but powerfull dog, short, thick-set in all proportions, short-haired, flat face and short-nosed, upright ears and a natural short tail.
It should have the appearance of an active animal, intelligent, very muscular with a compact structuur and a solid skeleton.

Behaviour and Character

Pleasant, playfull, sportlike and cheerful!
Very attached to its owner and their kids!
It is the clown amongst Bulls!

Head

The head is powerfull, broad and square.
The scalp should show almost symetrical foldings and wrinkels.
The skull is broad, but almost flat and the forehead is plump.
The eyebrows are outspoken.
They are seperated by a clear forehead gap which cannot extend to the forehead.
The stop is strongly emphasized, the nose is short and broad.
The lips ar thick, the upperlip fully covers the teeth.
The jaws are broad, square and powerfull.
The average ears are broad at the starting point and round at the top (bat ears)
The ears are far up on the head and should be carried upright.
The eyes are placed low and far from the nose and the ears, they are round and reasonbly big.
The white of the eye should not be visible from the front.
The French Bulls have a slight undershot, which means that the cutting-tooth of the lower jaw closed over the cutting-tooth of the upper jaw.
Tooth or tongue should not be visible when the dog has its mouth closed.

Body

The French Bull has a thick-set build with a broad and muscled back.
The broad loins are short and solid.
The line of the back goes slightly up from the shoulder to the loins and then bends downwards to the beginning of the tail.
The short knotty tail is carried low against the backside.
The belly and flanks are raised.
The chest is broad deep and barrel shaped.
The front legs are seperated far from eachother and slightly shorter than the rear legs.
French Bulls have small, round paws that are slightly turned to the outside.
The neck is short.

The weight

The weight should at least be 8 kilos and may have a maximum of 14 kilos.

The Fur

The short fur exists of soft, shiny and close hair.

Colors

Fawn, plain or streamed and multi-coloured bont.
multi-coloured dogs can be black and white or white with streamed parts or white with fawn parts.

Exercise!

French Bulls love to play around, and frolic!
With hot weather long walks are strongly discouraged.!
They will get overheated, its best to let them lay down in a cool spot!!!
